June 30th is a special day in St. Louis. It’s #Arch630Day! A day dedicated to celebrating our iconic Gateway Arch and its impressive dimensions: 630 feet tall and 630 feet wide. It’s more than just a monument; it’s a symbol of our city’s spirit, and we want everyone to join in the fun! 

For the past few years, St. Louis has embraced the Arch 630 Day Stacking Challenge, and it’s always a blast! Businesses and organizations across the region get creative, measuring something unique to their operations and calculating how many of those items it would take to reach the Arch’s towering 630 feet. Imagine: How many stacked baseballs? How many scoops of ice cream? How many… well, you get the idea! Last year, we saw that it would take a staggering 158 elephants at the St. Louis Zoo to equal 630 feet. What will you come up with this year? 

We’re calling on all St. Louis businesses, organizations, and individuals to take on the Stacking Challenge again! It’s a fantastic way to showcase your unique identity while celebrating a shared St. Louis icon. Share your calculations and a photo of your item using #Arch630Day on social media! Feel free to create your own graphic or use the provided graphics in this Google Folder.

Want to take the celebration to new heights (pun intended!)? Check out these food/drink specials and area events happening on Tuesday, June 30:

  • Pretzel Boys will offer a lunch combo special for $6.30.
  • Gooey Louie’s will offer two Baby Louies for $6.30 while supplies last, with special commemorative Arch 630 Day packaging. Limit is one special per person.
  • Urban Chestnut will offer $6.30 beers at their Grove location.
  • StilL 630 will offer a neat pour of any spirit for $6.30.
  • Gus’ Pretzels will offer 10 pretzels for $6.30.

  • Arch History Trivia Nights: Calling all trivia hosts! Lead up to #Arch630Day or dedicate a round on June 30th to fascinating facts about the Gateway Arch. Test St. Louisans’ knowledge of our beloved landmark! Need some Arch-tastic brain teasers? We’ve got facts taller than the Arch itself (almost)! 
  • Live Broadcast from the Arch Grounds: Are you a local media outlet? Imagine doing your weather or traffic hits live from the Arch grounds at 6:30 AM or 6:30 PM on #Arch630Day! We’d also love to see interviews with local experts on the grounds, tying into the Arch’s incredible 60th anniversary. 
  • “6 Minutes, 30 Seconds” Featurette: Podcasters and radio shows, this is your chance to shine! Create special episodes that are exactly 6 minutes and 30 seconds long, delving into the Arch’s history, its innovative design, or sharing fun, little-known facts. 
  • “630 Things You Didn’t Know About the Arch” Article: Local newspapers and magazines, let’s collaborate! Imagine a quirky, numbered feature highlighting 630 fascinating tidbits about the Arch. From its construction to its enduring legacy, there’s so much to discover! 

Get Creative & Come Visit! 

  • Arch Selfie Challenge: Head down to the Arch grounds on June 30th and take a creative selfie with the Arch in the background! Try to capture its full 630 feet of height or find a unique angle showcasing its impressive width. Share your photos with #Arch630Day and tag the Gateway Arch, @gatewayarchstl. 
  • 630 Steps: Get moving! Organize a walk, run, or step challenge where participants aim to take 630 steps (or 630 laps around a specific area) in honor of the Arch’s dimensions. It’s a fun way to get active and celebrate our landmark’s grand scale. 
  • Arch-Inspired Art & Decor: Let your creativity flow! Local artists, schools, or even families can create Arch-themed art, sculptures, or decorations. From drawings and paintings to mini-Arch models made from everyday objects, we want to see your Arch-tastic creations. Display them proudly and share photos using #Arch630Day! 
  • “630 Reasons Why I Love the Arch” Social Media Blitz: On June 30th, we want to collectively share “630 reasons why we love the Arch.” Simply post one reason why you appreciate our iconic monument, using the hashtag #Arch630Day. It’s a simple, powerful way to show our community pride. 
  • Arch Story Time (Especially for Kids!): Local libraries & bookstores can offer special story times featuring books about St. Louis history, iconic landmarks, or architecture, with a special focus on the Gateway Arch. Inspire the next generation of Arch enthusiasts!
